Man! People went to town carving on that poor tree. I think that has to be the scariest bunch of roots I've ever seen. I would not go near the thing myself! Great photo!
What an amazing root system this tree has. And that so many people have carved their names into it only makes it more interesting. Where do you live, anyway? In a swamp? Turtles, weird trees....
Yes, I live in a swamp. I have to pedal this darn bicycle really hard to keep the power to my dial-up modem working. Can't wait for this competition to end cause my legs are tired.
Wow! That's a great capture. I wonder how many names are carved into that poor tree? (Looks like it's holding up well.)
ReplyDeleteI love those roots even better than the carvings.
I love the roots too which is why I didn't crop them out.

ReplyDeleteIt is a really cool tree. I don't know how long people have been carving into it.
DeleteWhat? OMFG! I love it. Most definitely my favorite photo of the day. WOWZAH!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It looks better in person.
DeleteAmazing, and there are a whole lot of lines. I'm assuming this tree is a local favourite of yours - or was this a surprise find?!
ReplyDeleteNo surprise. It is on a hiking path in my favorite park - same park most of the outdoor pic were taken.
DeleteWow- that poor tree! Looks like it's thriving, though~
ReplyDeleteIt is really pretty - although you do feel bad for it.
DeleteThis tree has the scars of many battles on it, yet it seems to wear them proudly. This is one of my favorite pictures of yours.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I guess they are love battle scars.
DeleteOh wow. This begs the question, is your name on that tree? ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure my name is there several times! Ha!

DeleteSimply amazing! What a gorgeous photograph!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nicky. The location is really a pretty place.
DeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteWell that tree certainly has been privy to quite a bit.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't you love to know a few of the stories???
DeleteGreat tree - love the roots! I didn't see the carved names (thanks for the hint). Nice photo and take on the theme. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks. It is off to the side of a pretty garden just waiting for people to take the path next to it.
DeleteDo fairies and gnomes live in that tree? That is a magical tree! Gorgeous photo! So do you live in swampy country?
ReplyDeleteI think elves are more likely. No swamps - it's in a pretty park.
ReplyDeleteThat. Is. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful... I have taken so many pictures of vines, roots, trees, bark... this is so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! It looks like a kraken. Very, very cool!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it's wearing a fabulous ball gown. I love this!
