Power
This photo was taken in my favorite park in its Japanese Gardens that are celebrating their 100th anniversary. The rushing water over these rocks is a feast for the senses. Power as a theme had so many possible interpretations. This waterfall certainly is a mini-trickle when compared to something as grand as Niagara Falls, yet the rushing water and the beauty of the scene have a power all of their own. Please click the photo to enlarge it and let me know your thoughts!
This challenge brought to you by Ziva and Mike poses a theme for each day of the month.
While my photos may look like a 5 year old framed them, please check out the other photographically gifted participants!!!

In unrelated but related news, my daughter has entered the blogosphere. For those who have followed my adventures for awhile, you know her as Her Royal Cuteness. She is the force behind my blog, meaning that she forced me to write my first few posts and has had editorial control over anything written about her. If you have a minute to visit ( truthfully it will take that long to read) and give her a hello or send her some good writing links (she writes and reads like a fiend) I will love you to the bottoms of my bottom.
Here's her stuff: Sarcastic Girl
I love that picture. Gentle yet powerful. It does, indeed, have a power all it's own. Nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I wish I could have audio with it!
DeleteVery pretty photo. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
DeleteI'll check your daughter's blog out later when I'm not all wonky on Ambien. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. She is a delight to have as a child and has grown up too fast.
DeleteYour photo wonderfully captures the delicate balance between man and nature. A very contemplative image. Well done.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stephen. This challenge has been a fun way to get out to my favorite spots!
DeleteThis is exactly how I interpret power. There is nothing more powerful than water, in reality and in its ability to soothe, enchant, or invigorate.
ReplyDeleteHave your daughter's blog queued up when I finish checking out all the POWER post.
I love all types of bodies of water from aquariums to oceans. They fascinate me.
DeleteThanks for reading her little page. She makes me proud in so many ways!
I know I've said this before, but I'm always amazed at how each participant has his own take on that day's theme. This one is in that category of amazing. I thought of trying to use an old photo of Niagara Falls, but it was beyond the March 1 deadline. This captures power much better than that photo would have.
ReplyDeleteWhen I posted it on the page, I happened to think of something big like Niagara. I've never been there and want to visit!
DeleteAbsolutely stunning shot and a subtle take on power.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Glad you like!
DeleteI think water is one of the most powerful mediums at our disposal on the Earth. Just lovely.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Too bad we abuse it as a resource.
DeleteThis is beautiful, truly gorgeous. I once spent a week at an ecumenical community in France, in Taizé, and there was a garden there, the Silence Garden with a natural spring, it was one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. This photo reminds me of that garden. I love it. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ziva. Now I must go look that area of France up. You have me curious...
DeleteLove it! Way to think outside of the box on this one. You're right, water has a lot of power: the power to sustain, the power to destroy, the power to reshape the earth.
ReplyDeleteThank you. When I walked past the water - the word popped in my head. It worked. Your comment got put in spam - I don't know what the deal is with that!
DeleteWow, that is absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDelete*off to check out your daughters blog!*
Thanks, Meleah. When you come see me I'll take you there. Oh wait, I'm supposed to see you because you were buying lunch or dinner...
DeleteThanks for checking her blog. You can relate to that age well!!
Now that is powerful in its beauty! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda! It is prettier in person!
DeleteI could picture myself standing beneath that with a bar of Irish Spring, yodeling while getting clean. Pretty!
ReplyDeleteAnd I can picture you getting arrested and hauled in to jail!
DeleteHow beautiful! It doesn't need to be Niagra Falls. It's much more powerful in a subtle way. Fabulous Laughing Mom!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nicky! I've never been related to anything "subtle" before!!
DeleteI love Japanese gardens. Also, Japanese food, televisions, cars and stereo systems. Also, once, I was served Chinese food by this incredibly beautiful Japanese waitress, which was both wonderful and contradictory, as many things in life are. The Japanese are awesome, what can I say?
ReplyDeleteI like Thai food, but I don't know what a Thai Garden would look like. Except we used to have a restaurant named "Thai Garden", so I guess I do know what one looks like.
DeleteI am so jealous you have a Japanese garden. You know, a single constant drip of water can wear away a stone. Your picture truly shows power - and beauty!
ReplyDeleteYou're in Tidewater, right? Two hour drive to the pretty gardens.
ReplyDeleteLove it. Beautiful photo
ReplyDeleteI love this. It's beautiful and the composition is perfect!
ReplyDeleteI'm always struck by the power of water when I'm at the ocean! The tides, currents and depth are so very unforgiving! This is a beautiful and strong image, interesting in that in this context, the water has the power to calm and soothe :-)
