I've been in a baking mood of late. It gets to be very fattening to live here when I get like this.
There is an Italian loaf recipe that I have been trying to perfect.. I think one more try and I'll have it down. Her Royal Cuteness made this Challah and I think she found perfection. This was her first attempt at braiding a loaf with six strands and she blew me away!
I also gave home-made bagels a try. They turned out all right - but there is room for improvement.
Homemade pasta is one that gets eaten by everyone and that makes momma SO happy!
After watching the Food channel on TV the other night, homemade pizza was on the menu. The dough was yummy and the sauce was tons healthier than store bought.
And then there is soft pretzel day. I wish that I could have them finished hours before anyone was home, but alas, I must share them...
Probably better for my waistline though...

This 30 Days of Writing Challenge is brought to you courtesy of Nicky and Mike. They managed to convince a bunch of us to play along. If you want to read more cheesy posts, check out the ramblings of the crazy gang listed on the Linky thing at the latest post at We Work for Cheese.
You had me at Italian loaf. Looks great.
ReplyDeleteI would eat hot fresh bread all day long if I could.
DeleteWow, things are very busy in your kitchen these days. You could probably get a lot of dough by selling some of that stuff.
ReplyDeleteHarhar! I could get a rise out of that!
DeleteWe had to stop baking in our house. With just the two of us to eat it all we would put too much weight on!
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling as the boys in the house aren't too fond of sweet baked goods, but the girls are!
DeleteOh, my god; if i lived with you I'd have to change my name to Morbidly Obese Chatterbox. So many yummy goodies!
ReplyDeleteThat made me laugh!! It's okay around here because I can't even get my daughter to gain weight no matter what she eats.
DeleteI had been honing my bread-making skills before the summer heat wave. Now baking will have to wait until the cooler months.
ReplyDeleteI say points for perfecting the Italian loaf!

That's too bad that it has to wait!
DeleteThis all looks so wonderful! I don't bake. We have a great bakery in town where they make the best baguettes I've had outside of Paris. (I don't even want to compete!)
ReplyDeleteOoooh. I'll have to try making those - had never thought about that!
DeleteAll looks wonderful, but like you say, not good for the waistline. I'd have to widen my doorways.
ReplyDeleteIt's all about moderation for me!
DeleteI've never made pasta, but it's something I eventually want to do. :)
ReplyDeleteEverything else looks divine!
I had many years ago and just now got an attachment for my mixer that extrudes it - it is easy!
DeleteYour pasta looks like Bugles. Have you ever tried Bugles? They're made from corn and some chemicals and probably a lot of salt and sugar, and they taste delicious. Better yet, they're shaped like tiny wizard hats and you can put them on your fingertips and then eat them off your fingertips, which is exactly what I do, especially when I'm eating Bugles and watching Nascar races. Not that there any other kind of Nascar races, it's that some people might not know what Nascar is and I wanted to be perfectly clear. I think Bugles used to sponsor a Nascar driver, but I don't know if they still do. Anyway, God bless and continue baking.
ReplyDeleteI have ALWAYS loved Bugles and eat them from my fingertips because they are shaped like witch fingers not wizard hats! They made a healthier baked version at one point that I gave my kids - can't find that anymore.
DeleteAs for Nascar, I know about it but don't follow. They have Races here at the track and it consumes that part of the county for days. My hubby grew up nextdoor to two Nascar racers - but that still doesn't make me want to watch.
That pizza sauce looks amazing! And braided bread! Wow. I'm really impressed. I feel my ass expanding just looking at these pictures.
ReplyDeleteOh no! Are you up to a size 4 1/2 ?
DeleteSo... what time shall we come by? 500 points for making me drool. I'll throw in another hundred if you email me some of those recipes. :-)
ReplyDeleteAnytime, but you're cooking! What recipes do you want?
DeleteOh, challah! I've tried it a couple of times - once with the traditional braids (the entire loaf fell) and once with swirled "hats", which didn't turn out too bad. But, for the life of me, I cannot make free-form bread. My pizza crust/pie, on the other hand, is pretty good (it's already flat anyway). Gah - now I wan't bread - homemade, of course. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI want some now too, but must bake a birthday cake instead. Darn???
DeleteHoly COW. You are an evil temptress! WHITE FLOUR! And just about every favorite food I have! I want to come eat in your kitchen!
ReplyDeleteOhhh....you can get lots of fresh Challah around here, but nothing beats homemade :)
ReplyDeleteholy crap. I'm drooling over these!
