30 Days of Writing - Magic Carpet

This is a re-post. I'm away from the homefront and without computer, so I'll catch you guys later for the Linky thing (unless Nicky can Linky thing me) and comments for all!
-------------------------------------------------------------
I love my child's way with words. She makes up a new one just about daily.
-------------------------------------------------------------

Her Royal Cuteness has always had a way with words - and by that I mean to say that she makes up her own words. Sometimes they are very useful.

Once I was explaining to her what a forte was:

Me : A forte is something that you are really good at. For instance if you are artistic then painting may be your forte.

HRC : Then barking must be the dog's fivete.

We use that word all of the time now.

fivete : (five-tay) noun, one's really, really strong point

Yesterday we went to check on the work on our house, and she was very upset that the carpet layers had scratched her wall. She kept insisting that the carpenters come back to fix the paint. I tried to tell her that the painters would fix it, not the carpenters. I really wasn't catching on to her lexicon...

This morning's continuation of the conversation almost made me wreck the car as I was driving her to the bus stop.

HRC : Those carpenters had better come and fix my wall.

Me :  Honey, carpenters work with wood. Are you trying to say that the carpet guys should be called carpeters?

HRC: No, they are carpenters not carpeters.

Me: Okay. They are not carpeters. So who are the guys that work on the wood?

HRC: The people who work with wood are wooderers.

Me : So, Jesus was a wooderer?

HRC : Well, DUH, they nailed him to WOOD not CARPET!

Sometimes I have no reply....

  1. LMAO! HRC is brilliant. And yes, obviously, Christianity would have taken a completely different turn had Jesus been nailed to a carpet.

  7. If you want to mess with her you could mention that we park on driveways and drive on parkways.

  8. Following that logic, Jesus must have really been cross with the way things turned out.

Make my day!
