30 Days of Photographs III - The City

This is not my city.

I took this one day when I had gotten lost in Baltimore and was very happy to finally see things that I recognized. It was like finding the Emerald City! In Maryland use of hand held phones is prohibited while driving, so I apologize to the authorities, although the signs refer to talking and texting, not photography!

I was going to crop the shot, but I kind of like seeing the dash in the foreground.

The storm is headed for Baltimore, so I hope that everyone in its path is safe and remains that way.

  1. Look at those clouds! Interesting how different a city looks from a distance.

  2. I bet you were very happy to recognize familiar landmarks :) Great picture of the city ahead and the sky with the clouds. Hope all weather the storm with minimal damage and no loss of lives.

  6. Amy, you took that while driving?!! OMG! Girl, you're crazy! But that sky is super awesome. And sofa king blue! I'm glad you didn't crop it at all.

Also, please stay safe in this crazy storm. We're in the midst of it too. So far, so good - where I am [located in Central NJ] but the worst is yet to come.

    1. It was too pretty not to capture with my phone! Thanks. We are fine. Waiting out the rain. Hope that you and your family stay safe and dry.

  7. I'm so glad you didn't crop out the dash because I think everybody (except maybe Danielle) can relate to driving through miles of nothing and then finally approaching the big city, where life is good and you can get a decent pizza at midnight if you want one. Furthermore, I like that that the shadow of the highway sign is there, too. Those big green signs (in America, anyway) always seem like a sign that you're about to re-enter civilization.

  8. This is definitely not my city: there are no cars.
Plus, this picture has a blue sky. Not so much here.

  10. This is such a perfect shot with that glorious sky. Definitely east coast but I wouldn't have known it was Baltimore.

Stay safe. The winds have gotten insane up here and Sandy hasn't even touched down yet.

    1. I think the Orioles stadium is on the far left of the shot. That would be my only guide.
I hope the storm isn't too bad for you. We've been sitting under a yellow band of rain on the radar for hours now. Stay safe!

  12. I've been lost in Baltimore. And DC. And other surrounding areas. I've been all across this country and it's one of the most confusing places I've ever been.

    1. I have a problem with the GPS I was using. You could program it to avoid highways and traffic, but I want a button to avoid bad or dangerous neighborhoods.

  13. No, I actually love how it is positioned, dash and all!

  14. I love how there are hardly any other cars there, which is another sign that you may be lost.

  15. I've done the same thing... photographing while driving. As long as you're not texting, I think it's okay!
