When the hubby's away the wife will play. OK. I get Neutral and the other four gears, but can somebody please tell me where Reverse is on this thing? I want to back it out of the garage and go for a spin. And what the hell is "choke" other than something I want to do to whoever came up with this topic for today?...
So, there are too many things to think about to drive off into the sunset. I remember one thing! You can't shift down from second gear to first. Tried that once with bad results. There's a Starter, too? What do I do with that? It's like a freaking airplane cockpit in here.
Hmmm. Maybe if I turn on the floor fan over there, I can just sit here and pretend that the wind on the open road is blowing my hair around.
I almost choked on this prompt! Wish I'd had a swell little roadster like that!
ReplyDeleteThe prompt was fine, my interpretation...that leaves something to be desired.
DeleteI loved driving a stick shift!! Except the hills that had stop signs at the top.....those were a nightmare.
ReplyDeleteI drove a stick up until I had my second child. It got to be too much and I ended up in minivan hell.
DeleteI remember the days of a stick shift - I taught myself how to drive a stick when I bought my first car and had to get it home - an experience I will never forget!
ReplyDeleteI had to learn in a couple of hours when I was 17 as my brother needed my automatic and left me with a stick for a month!
DeleteI'd avoid downshifting from 2nd to 1st if I were you.
ReplyDeleteLuckily I found out during the car's restoration, so any damage could get fixed!
DeleteCute picture; I have to say its been years since I drove a stick shift; I'm sure it would come back to me, like riding a bike, but I think for my first spin I would avoid a hilly area!
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday!
betty
A lot of the newcars come with a punch shift. It isn't as much fun and I keep looking for the clutch.
DeleteThis is a painful reminder of all the clutches I've managed to burn out. Sigh!
ReplyDeleteOuch! What were you doing to your poor cars?!?
DeleteI have no clue how to drive a stick shift! Great photo!! What kind of car is that?
ReplyDeleteIt is getting harder to find cars with a stick shift. It is a '61 TR3.
DeleteMove over, LM, I'll back it out for you.
ReplyDeleteCome on. I'm ready. Is it down and to the left or right?
DeleteWhat is that? It looks like fun. You people have pinball machines and antiques and cool clocks and all sorts of shit, including, it appears, some kind of old sports car. I'm definitely coming for a visit. Might never leave, in fact.
ReplyDeleteSure! Come on by! We have strange stuff, but no Wooden women, whips or riding crops. I need to expand my collections
Deletereverse. back right? though some newer cars have it (the reverse) up front. i don't like that.
ReplyDeleteJust grind em until it goes backward.
ReplyDeleteI miss my manual transmission. 5 on the floor and vroom off I'd go. This looks like a sweet ride. I'd love to take her for a spin and never come back.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the subject Neutral I really wished I still had my manual.... I loved it and wanted an "N" pic! Yours is so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteCool shifting apparatus! I have no idea what that stick is controlling!
ReplyDeleteCool as this theme! I totally forgot how to drive a car like this so I admire you.
