30 Days of Photographs II - Fire

So, this is not exactly my favorite topic. I want nothing to do with fire. Fire is organic and has a mind of its own. It moves in an unpredictable and yet still understandable fashion. I can give you great detail on the way that it consumed our home. I have many pictures of fire, firemen, burned things, etc. I've posted a very few of the hundreds that I have. I don't want to post one here. Plus they all pre-date this non-competition, and who really wants to see more of my crappy disaster?

I took several pictures for today's theme and rejected a bunch. There was a softly lit candle, which was boring and very static. I found some burned pieces of our roof in a mulch bed, but that was just too sad. I even took a picture of the bottles of hot sauce at the grocery store, but I didn't like it except for its humor. I then fell for this photo as it encompassed the colors and movement of fire without actually burning. I hope it conveys well.

Please head over to these other fine non-competitors to see why I win:

  1. Completely understand why this theme wouldn't excite you after that. However, I think you did the theme justice (more than justice) with this photo.

  2. Thank you! I'm kind of thinking that whoever came up with this theme should be flogged and disqualified from the non-contest.

  4. This is a great picture. It reminds me of some of the paintings of Georgia O'Keefe.

  5. That is pretty. I love flowers. And it makes me think my "Flamepoint Siamese" possibly, however small, maybe...has some merit here. :)

You can come and it on the "out of the box" sofa with me and we will drink lots of alcohol. :)

    1. The out-of-the-box sofa...is that like the "Group W" bench? Even if it is, I'll go if there's alcohol.

  8. Today must be kind of painful for you. I think your picture is a most acceptable interpretation of today's theme. Nicely done.

  9. I've been thinking about you leading up to today's theme. That you chose to post a life-enriching photo that evokes the power and dance of fire is brave. The photo itself is simply stunning.
